This is why I don’t trust any of the medical profession as far as I can piss them
Last week I had to have some blood tests caried out and as a result I had a telephone consultation with a nurse on Friday afternoon. No unexpected problems but I was advised to start taking statins.
Because experience has shown than most medical people have a very bad habit of saying one thing to your face and then write up completely different things in the medical notes I always make a habit of logging in to the NHS app and checking to see what has been recorded. After all, this is the “offical” record and needs to be correct.
Upon checking the notes I found this (names removed for respect):
21 February 2025
Trentside Medical Group (General Practice) - Mrs J B (Nurse Access Role)
Note - History: Task received from C S in response to my task - Debbie known alcoholic on daily insulin only as previously tried to self harm with insulin. Is known to the DSN TT.; History of alcohol abuse (Y20aa)
Coded entry - History of alcohol abuse (Y20aa)
To say that I am angry at being called a “known alcoholic” and having a “history of alcohol abuse” is like saying the North Pole has a little chilli weather.
This is outrageous defamation of character in every sense of the word and given that I am not an alcoholic, never have been an alcoholic and hopefully never will be an alcoholic as supported by the total lack of any medical history related to alcohol I feel this is nothing but fiction and negligence at best on the part of the nurse who made the notes.
Now, I’m sure you are thinking a quick phone call to the practice along with an expiation would put this right. So was I when I called them yesterday morning but oh no. First of all I was told they could not discuss it and I would have to send them an e-mail.
After sending them an angry but formal e-mail they then informed me that they would need to investigate my complaint and that would take 28 working days at which point they will let me know what their findings are.
What the fuck is there to investigate??? apart from drinking half a bottle of whisky last year in a suicide attempt (which I don’t confider drinking!!) I have not had an alcoholic drink in 30 years and before that I drank like any normal person drinks. I got pissed on a Friday night out with my mates.
In the meantime this incorrect medical note is open for any medical person to access with no additional notes or caveats to say that this is being contested. It could jeopardise my driving licence, my car insurance an my eligibility for a Motability car but they don’t seem to give a shit about any of that. It’s also seriously impacting my mental health situation and pushing me towards some very nasty suicidal thoughts. Again, I have explained this to Trentside Medical Group staff but they are not in the slightest bit interested.
My only option is to try and engage a solicitor to fight my case and take this to the local and nation media (AKA BBC Nottingham)
Disgusting beyond words
