We always cater for the lowest common denominator

The more I see of the world around me the sadder I get. I know we can not all have an IQ north of 150 and be geniuses. In any society there are people at the top and people at the bottom and all have a valid place and role to play and our society needs to cater for ALL those levels.

However, I think that we have lost the balanced approach and ever increasingly we are catering for the lower levels only.

Look around you, it’s rare to see an intelligent documentary on TV, instead it’s wall to wall quiz and reality shows which to me are just flashing lights, noise and nothing else which bring no enrichment at all. We need to put labels on everything warning that it’s hot or cold or sharp of whatever when just looking it it should make that clear. People want and demand instant answers and fixes without having the pleasure of working a problem through. And many many other crazy examples like that.

I genuinely wonder how far we have to go before we become a society of vegetables incapable of intelligent thought, understanding and conversation. I fear it’s not that far!
