Scanner consolidation work

I’ve recently moved from an Icom IC R-15 analogue scanner to a Uniden SDS100e digital scanner. It’s very different in the way it functions to anything I’ve used before but now I understand how it arranges it’s memories I’m really impressed with it.

As anyone who plays radio knows, many users have moved away from analogue radio in favour of digital. This has left analogue almost dead.

By adding the digital functionality it feels like going back to the glory days of radio scanning in the 1980s (although no emergency services like the Police). Basically there are a lot of active frequencies to listen to.

This week I’ve been taking the hundreds of frequencies I have programmed in and consolidated them down to the most active 60 or 70 frequencies. This has reduced the cycle time from 30 - 40 seconds + down to just a few seconds and means I’m able to listen to almost nonstop coms.

It’s absolutely wonderful
