I came across something with real meaning!

I’ll be the first to say that social media is a never ending source of drivel and bull shit. But just occasionally you come across an absolute gem and this is one of those gems.

Before you read on be warned, (a) this could be a little triggering for some, and (b) this is not me saying I’m about to jump off the top of the nearest tall building.

And when death finds me, I hope it whispers,
”come now, the fight is done”
and takes my hand gently,
like an old friend who understands why I’m so tired.
I hope it says,
”You’ve carried enough, let me hold this weight for you.”
I hope it promises,
”here there is quiet. Here there is rest.”

I have always respected the right of any person to end their life when and how they want, and for whatever reason they want. During my time working for the Samaritans I have had the pure honour to share the final moments of a callers time on this earth and it is a life changing experience.

Of course, if there is an alternative, then that alternative should be explored but if death is the right option for you then you have my respect.

And finally, lets not forget that some people have fought battles both mental and physical for longer than we know and death for them is the final release from all that pain.
